It was very interesting and productive course of academic writing that my groupmates and me had in the second semester. During this semester we have learnt different things that were useful for writing well-developed essays, reports and reviews. We tried to use as many writing techiques as we could.     Also, we used many sources, one of my favorite was the Guardian magazine which contais lots of articles on different topics from politics and economic to culture and lifestyle. It helped me to find information that could be necessary for me.    The tasks that we did were useful enough. I not only have improved my writing skills as well, but have enriched my vocabulary. I hope that I'll continue writing practice and it'll bring me good results.

Louise Tickle, a freelance journalist, starts an article with a story about an invitation that had dropped into her inbox. She was asked to give a lecture to the charity Family Rights Group. After receiving that, she was worried about not only writing a mini-dissertation, but also the confidence in her voice. Despite the fact that Louise used to have different talks with other people as a journalist, she was sure that her voice sounds a bit thin and high, even a bit girly.   Suddenly, she discovered that this problem is not unique. In history of world broadcasting, there has been lots of prejudice about women’s voices. For example, in UK women weren’t allowed to read television news on national programmes until 1975. According to the Daily Express and the Sunday Dispatch, women’s voices don’t have enough strength in their voices to articulate their opinions. Even if women could give public speaking they were under pressure because their voices were too tough.   To s...
